2) For this week, please list your 16 great-great grandparents, their birth year, their death year, and their life span in years.  You can do it in plain text, in a table or spreadsheet, or in a graph of some sort.

My 14 great-great-grandparents are, by ahnentafel number:

Saturday Night Genealogy Fun Childhood Memories

It is time for Saturday Night genealogy fun.

Randy over at Genea Musings Saturday posting party we are asked to share me of

our childhood memories.

1) Judy Russell asked six questions in her Keynote address at RootsTech 2014 to determine if audience members knew certain family stories about their parents, grandparents and great-grandparents.  She demonstrated very well that family stories are lost within three generations if they are not recorded and passed on to later generations.

2) This week, I want you to answer Judy's six questions, but about YOUR own life story, not your ancestors.  Here are the questions:

a) What was your first illness as a child?

b) What was the first funeral you attended?

c) What was your favorite book as a child?

d) What was your favorite class in elementary school?

e) What was your favorite toy as a child?

f) Did you learn how to swim, and where did you learn?

This is my story….

a) My first illness was probably mumps.  I have a small scar on the edge of my nose from this mump adventure

b) My first funeral probably was my maternal grandfather Day February 1964.  Grandpa Zion passed away in 1958 but he lived in the state of Washington and we were in Minnesota.

Grandpa Day, Grandma Grace left to right Me ( Grace) Bonnie my cousin and sister Mary
and in the front of Bonnie is her sister Cheryl.  I was the tallest then but no more.

c) My favorite book would have been a Nancy Drew mystery.  I have fond memories of going to the old Duluth library on Saturday’s.  They had a staircase that would go to the second floor that featured a glass floor.  What a beautiful old building.

d) My favorite class would have been in the 5th grade at Jefferson Elementary.  The teacher was Mr. Alex Sisto and he was so kind.  I do not remember what he taught but I thought he was so nice.

e) My favorite toy would of probably been my Lu Anne doll from my grandparents.

f) Sadly I never learned to swim.  I was terrified of trying to learn and always was too sick to attend.  I wish I had learned when I was young.  Every once in a while my hubby or a grand child will attempt but I never have had the patience to keep on.  Easier to sit and watch grandpa play with the grand kids.

So here are a few memories of my childhood. Grace

Time Travel Adventure Visiting 5th Great Grandpa Joseph Cheuvront

Genealogy Blog Party :  Time Travel Adventure

Elizabeth over at Little Bytes Of Life  has opened up a Time Travel  Blog Party.

  • Who is the ancestor you will meet?
  • What question(s) do you need him/her to answer?
  • Is there a problem you can help your ancestor solve?
  • Will you reveal your true identity to your ancestor? If so, how will your visit impact the future?
  • Will you bring your ancestor to the future to meet his/her descendants? What will be the outcome, if you do ?

How can I pick 1 or even 2 ancestors to visit in my time travel adventure ?

I have so many questions for my ancestors.

Some questions are difficult to ask. So many secrets, so many rumors out there.

Was one of my great uncles murdered for money or was it really an accidental drowning?

Why did one of my great grandmothers not marry the father of her child. What happened to

him and will I ever find the real Andrew. Did her parents really disown her and did she cut

them out of her life.

I would love to meet my great great grandpa John Lockwood and hear his stories and

struggles during the civil war as an enlisted man.

What decision made him want to sign up?

I never physically met my grandmother Alta but I do believe she visits me in my dreams. I

just want to hold her hand and listen to her stories.

I would give anything to sit down with my grandmother Grace and share a ginger ale and

cookie. I have so many unanswered questions.  I wish had spent more time with her in her

last years. I was just to busy being me to give her the time she deserved.

I will pick one ancestor to visit in my time travel adventure.

I am going back to visit my 5th great grandfather Joseph Louis Cheuvront

Joseph Louis Cheuvront was born on February 2, 1757, in Strasbourg, Alsace, France. He married Elizabeth Ellsworth and they had 11 children together. He then married Sarah Bollen and they had four children together. He died on August 12, 1832, in Harrison County, West Virginia, having lived a long life of 75 years, and was buried there.  Joseph was in the revolutionary war and was a preacher man.
My questions for him are
Tell me about your parents and their parents and your siblings.
Why did you come to the united states was it really about religion and was there any royalty connections with your parents?
Tell me stories about the adventures you had during the revolutionary war. Did you see battle or were you a minister to the troops?
What was happening with your family members life that caused you to write that letter scolding them and their behavior shortly before your death?
I would not tell him I was from the future since I may be accused of witchcraft.

Ancestry Has Updated New York, Wills and Probate records 1659 - 1999

Went to Ancestry today to see what is new.  They state they have updated their New York,

Wills and Probate Records 1659 -1999.

One of my head banging into the wall who lived in New York is 3rd great grandfather Levi Anderson

born 1810 Schoharie , New York to David Anderson and Elfreda Belknap

death 1858 Rome, Oneida , New York. This information came from one of his son's.

There is a Levi Anderson who died who passed away in Rome New York 03 of January 1862.

The Rome Citizen had an article of a Levi  Anderson being found frozen to death and that alcohol was a factor.

He was married to my 3rd great grandfather Harriet Carpenter.  He was her 2nd of 3 husbands.

I found no will listed in the New York for Levi.

I am still searching for information on his life and death.

Where is he buried. To be Continued
