Saturday Night Genealogy Fun Favorite Photo of Mom Muriel Day

Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - A Favorite Photo of Your Mother
It's Saturday Night,
Time for more Genealogy Fun!!

This photo is of me and my mom probably taken late 1948 or early 1949.  I am guessing it was taken after church where I was dedicated to the Lord.

Tonight we are to post one of our favorite photos of our mother.  How can I possibly post only one photo. But I will. She is my mom , raised my sister and me and made a home for my dad for all of us.

She was the youngest of 3 living children in the family , having 2 brothers pass away at early age.

She met my father in May 1943 and they married in October of that year.  Dad was in the merchant marines during the war so was away from her during their early years.

I was born in 1948 with my sister born in 1950. After that would come two sons , the first passing away at three days old and my brother David being born in 1963.

Mom would get polio in 1952  while we were living in Texas.  She was not expected to live but being the fighter she was she remained on this earth until 1998.

There are so many stories about my mother and I have posted some here.

Click on this link and you will be able to read more pictures and stories of my favorite woman my mother

Friday Faces From The Past Who Are These Ancestors Riordan Family Members

Some times I feel like I am just stumbling along and tripping on my ancestor's roots.

Here are three photos from my 2nd great aunt Mary Gallaher photo album.  She has thankfully identified these 3 photos , but as of now I do not know how they fit in the family tree.
I have spent the last couple evenings searching ancestry census records and U S City Directories.

First photo identified as Danial Riordan , wife and daughter Photographed in  La Crosse Wisconsin

Second  photo identified as Mrs Ann Riordan ( could be wife of Perry? pictured below)

Third photo identified as Perry? Riordan not sure of first name La Crosse Wisconsin

If any of you recognize these people please message me. I know they are related to me through
Mary's mother Johanna Riordan Gallaher.  I feel that Perry? is probably Johanna's brother.

Tombstone Tuesday Hunting For the Tombstones Of My Gallaher Family

Destination is La Crosse, Wisconsin and the Catholic Cemetery to hunt for the graves of my great great grandparents Patrick and Johanna ( Riordan) Gallaher.

Find a grave notes that there is over 1500 graves and only about 23 percent are photographed.

Among those not pictured is my Gallaher's.

Trip is planned for the summer , hopefully Thursday to take a short trip to La Crosse.

Goals are to find cemetery and graves. To take photos of the graves and post on ancestry and here.

Goal is to go to court house to see if I can get death certificates for both Patrick and Johanna.  I am hoping that I will find out who their parents are.
