Which Alta Is It ? Mother or Daughter Puzzle Solved

While wandering ancestry today I was searching hints of the siblings of my great grandmother Mabel Coleman Hall.  I found a picture linked to her sister Myrtle Alta Coleman Oberkotter.
The contributor had it linked to Myrtle and stated back said Aunt Alta age 82.
The dress led me to the 1930s and since both women lived to late 1930s the dress fit.  Except for the fact that Myrtle was born 1876 and died 1939 at the age of 63 years old while her mother Alta Cheuvront Coleman was born 1848 and lived to 1937 age of 89.
Mystery solved this wonderful photo is my great great grandmother Alta rather than my 2nd great aunt.
I love having this photo of grandma Alta at 82 years old.

Mystery Monday ~ Searching For My Andrew Daly ~ Did I Find A Sister

Today for Mystery Monday I am posting two pictures.  I am hoping that you out  there will take a look and tell me if you see a family resemblance.

Is this my Andy's sister?  I have contacted others on ancestry who have this picture but so far no answers back.

I have written before about Andrew. When all you have is a picture and nothing else the hunting and searching can be a long lonely walk.

Take a peek at let me know what you think?  If you recognize either of these people let me know. They lived in Wisconsin late 1890's and early 1900's.

Thanks for stopping by.. Grace

NOT SO WORDLESS WEDNESDAY MYSTERY RELATIVES GALLAGHER GALLAHER FAMILY

Today is Wordless Wednesday or Almost Wordless Wednesday for me. I am sharing two mystery relative of mine.  These photos were found in a family albums belonging to my great grandma Katherine Gallagher/ Gallaher or her sister Mary Gallagher.

First question is the last name. Which way is it spelled. Their Irish accent could make it sound like their is no G.

This is the first photo. It is marked M Gallaher, M could mean Mr or maybe could be a first initial. Only the writer of this album would know, my guess is Mr.
My Patrick Gallagher/ Gallaher arrived from Ireland around 1850 maybe.  I know nothing as of yet of this family before they arrived in Wisconsin. I am not sure what port they came into, maybe New York.
My thoughts are that this could be a photo of a brother of my great great grandfather Patrick and while my Patrick moved to Wisconsin this Gallagher traveled to Ontario.
He appears to be an older gentleman well dressed.

The second photo is of a young girl from the early 1900's or very late 1890's. The name is Rose in the album, she also is well dressed. I am guessing she is about 12 years old. She could be the young daughter of the above man or maybe even a grand daughter.
Both photos are taken in Guelph Ontario by Dobereiner and Ward.

These albums are full of photos. Some identified and some not. I am hoping with the census reports and these pictures I can put some of the history together. A trip to LaCrosse Wisconsin and Winona Minnesota is in the plans for this year to search for more information.

I have had contact with a distant cousin who has information on this family from the court house. She mentioned that she would share some of these items with me but sadly never came through.

If you think you may be related to me through this or any other family listed I would love to hear from you.  Grace

Mystery Family Members Sepia Saturday

This is a great old photo that came out of a scrap book of my mother's so is from the Day side of the family. The family lived in Minnesota around the Mora area. My mom was born in 1923 and I am thinking she may have taken this picture. That is how I am dating it to the 1930's to 1940's.
Problem is there is no names, not sure if family or friends but I will guess family.
The clothing is intersting especially the second child a young girl with what may be a hat. The older gentleman is wearing a thin tie that is stuck into his shirt.
Any one out there have a better idea to the age of photo?
Thanks to all of you that stop by and view my pictures. I hope that you mark me a favorite and visit often... Grace
