Tombstone Tuesday George Day 1869 to 1928 Murder ? Duluth Minnesota

For this weeks Tombstone Tuesday  I am going to share the tombstone of my great uncle George Day brother of great grandpa William Albert Day.

George died by a gunshot.  Was it murder or suicide?  I have visited the library in Duluth Minnesota and read some of the newspaper articles.  They started out as murder while he was working as a security guard at the docks.  Later article hinted at suicide.

I have not found any other articles in Duluth and I should search old newspapers in St Paul to see if they wrote anything else.

George is buried in Mora Minnesota next to wife Selma.  Death Certificate states cause of death Homicide Gun shot to the head.

Tombstone Tuesday Etta Anna Gertrude Zion Daughter of John and Mary

Today I am sharing a little bit on my 2nd great aunt Etta Anna Gertrude Zion daughter of

John and Mary Cassell Zion.

Etta story is sad being that she died only  a couple of months after marrying Maley Piercy

on the 20th of August 1890.  This picture has the groom cut away.

Etta was born the 21st of September 1868 in Decatuer County Iowa and passed away on

 December 31st 1890.

She is buried in Lilly Cemetery in Lamoni next to her parents.

 I have put a request for a photo of her tombstone with find a grave.

Tombstone Tuesday Coleman John Henry Cheuvront Alta Angeline Family 2nd Great Grandfather Grandmother

Today is Tuesday and time to share a tombstone from my family tree.

Up until tonight I had not searched for the tombstones of one of my paternal 

great grandparents last resting place.

John Henry Coleman born 16th of June 1839 to Elic Alexander Coleman and Catherine Beiler

On 01 July 1866 John married Alta Angeline Cheuvront born 27 May 1848 and died 28 September 1937.  They married Greenwood , Cass, Nebraska. 

Both are buried in Kent Cemetery in Taylor, Loup, Nebraska along with many family members.

Today for Tombstone Tuesday we are visiting my 2nd great grandfather Dwight Henry Day and my 2nd great grandmother Betsey Anderson

He is buried in a small cemetery named Pleasant Prairie  3 miles from Zumbro Falls Minnesota.\

I was able to visit the cemetery in 2000.

Tombstone Tuesday Michael Flinner / Fleenor Washington County Virginia My 4th Great Grand Uncle

Today for Tombstone Tuesday I am sharing about Michael Flinner / Fleenor the brother of 5th great grandfather Gasper ( Casper ) Fleenor making him my 4th great grand uncle

Michael Flinner / Fleenor, son of Johannes Flinner and Anna Minnick, was born November 28, 1760, in Philadelphia, Bucks County, Pennsylvania and died August 03, 1837, in Mongle Springs, Washington County, Virginia.

He married Sarah "Sally" Linder on December 10, 1781, in Three Springs, Washington County, Virginia. She was born on July 08, 1765, in Washington County, Virginia and died July 09, 1853, in Abingdon, Washington County, Virginia. She was the daughter of (George Anton) Anthony Linder and Mary Newland.

Michael is buried in the Fleenor Cemetery #89, Washington County, Virginia. They raised a family of 14 children.

According to researcher Michael Meek: Michael Flinner served in the American Revolution in the western part of Virginia at various times from 1777 to 1780. On March 26, 1833, he applied for a soldiers pension, his soldier certificate was 12609 under the act of June 7, 1832. The pension was granted and he received $51.66 per annum issued May 11, 1833. Buried: Fleenor Cemetery #89, Washington County, VA.

Michael was a Justice of Washington County, VA. on the 19th of June, 1821.

Michael's stone is no longer actually at the cemetery. The owner had passed away already when we went, however we talked to his son, and according to him, the previous owner had the stone removed due to the amount of people asking to visit the cemetery.

For Tombstone Tuesday I am sharing about one of my 4th great grandparents Marcia Massy Lacy wife of Robert Millsap.

Marcia was born 8th of August 1764 August Virginia and passed away 19th of April 1842 Brown Indiana

Tombstone Tuesday Perry Zion and Alta Hall Zion

For tombstone Tuesday I am remembering my paternal grandparents Perry Zion and Alta Hall Zion.

My grandpa Perry was born in Kendal Kansas to Jonathan Adam and Rachel Millsap Zion.

Grandpa Perry married Alta Hall and together they had 5 children.

They moved from Kansas to Craig Colorado were the last four children were born and then on to

Winlock, Washington where he raised his children and Angus Beef.

On December 21, 1958 Perry Glenn Zion passed away.

Alta was born to Arthur Hall and Mabel Jane (Coleman) Hall on June 26, 1892

 in Evansville, Wisconsin.

She died from cancer 21st February 1944 Winlock Washington

TOMBSTONE TUESDAY JOSEPH CHEUVRONT

For Tombstone Tuesday I am sharing a photo of Joseph Cheuvront 's tombstone.  I recently found this ancestry and it will make a great addition to my story on my 5th great grandfather Joseph Cheuvront's life.

Joseph passed away on the 15th of June on Good Hope, West Virginia and is buried with several other Cheuvront family members.

John Jr Day is my 6th great grandfather on my mother's side.  John was born on the 24th of September 1676 in Hartford, Connecticut.
He died on the 4th of November 1752 in Colchester, New London, Connecticut.

John married Grace Spencer about 1696 and together they had twelve children. Grace was born in 1675 and died in 1749
I am descendant from his son Isaac Day who married Ann Foote.

If you think we may be related from any family mentioned I would love to hear from you.
John is buried in Colchester Cemetery in Colchester, Connecticut.

TOMBSTONE TUESDAY ROBERT MILLSAP Passed Away in 1842 in Indiana

Tombstone Tuesday posting is of my 4th x great grandfather Robert Millsap who passed away the 4 Apr 1842 in Hamblen, Brown, Indiana. He is the father of William Bella Millsap and was married to Marcia Lacy.

Grandfather Robert Millsap is buried in Taggart Cemetary.

Tombstone Tuesday Great Great Grandfather John T Lockwood

For Tombstone Tuesday I am featuring one of my great great grandfather's John T Lockwood.

John was born the 12 of February 1840 Columbus New York to Hiram and Emma (Moiser) Lockwood and passed away 13th of February 1911.

John is my civil war hero and was with the Wisconsin Calvary. He served one year and did his brother Ferdinand.

John married Betsy Eddington in Wisconsin 25th of September 1863 and together had four children Rosa, Carrie Estella and John. Carrie is my great grandmother.

John lived most of his years in either Fon du Lac Wisconsin or Big Stone Minnesota. His later years were he suffered with a lot of pain. I was able to view his Military papers and copied all of his requests for money for his disability and not being able to work due to the war.

John is buried in Clinton, Big Stone, Minnesota. This picture of his tombstone was taken by Morgan222 and I am thankful to have found it on http://www.ancestry.com/.

Tombstone Tuesday Elic and Catherine Beiler Coleman

On about this day Catherine Beiler Coleman passed away on December 1st 1884 in Greenwood, Cass county, Nebraska. Catherine (also known as Kate) is one of my great great great grandmother on my father's side.

Catherine was born the 8th of March 1806 to Abraham and Kate (Chapin) Beiler in Maryland. Catherine married Alexander " Elic" Chalker Coleman the 1st of September 1825. To this marriage 11 children born.

For Tombstone Tuesday this week I am featuring the Tombstone of Flavious and Anne (Woodmansee) Millsap. On the tombstone is written F. A. and Annie. I was able to find this through http://www.findagrave.com/ . They are buried at the Syracuse cemetery, in Syracuse, Kansas.

Flavious and Annie are one of my great great grandparents on my father's side of the family.

Flavious was born the 10th of November 1832 in Bedford, Indian to William Bella and Elizabeth (McGuyer) Millsap. William passed away the 10th of April 1910 in Syracuse, Kansas.

Anna Woodmansee was born the 10 of July 1841 in Jackson, Green County, Missouri to James White and Rachel (Burrell) Woodmansee. She passed away the 02nd of July 1904 in Syracuse, Hamilton county, Kansas.

Flavious and Anna were married the 01 September 1857. To this marriage were born 10 children.

For today's Tombstone Tuesday I am remembering my great great grandparents John Henderson Zion and Mary Cassell Zion.
John was born 28th of November 1831 in Indiania and died 22 April 1920 in Foster Missouri. Mary was born the 19th October 1834 in Illinois and died 20 November 1919 in Iowa.
John and Mary were married 8th of September 1853 and had 5 children. Mary, William, Jonathan, Etta and Annie. Their son Jonathan is my great grandfather.

Sheffer Cemetery is a small cemetery in Nebraska with tombstones of mainly Colemans, Loders

and Shaffer's. It is one of those cemeteries that is on my wish list to visit some day.

Saturday was such a beautiful day that after garage sales we stopped at Forest Hill Cemetery in Duluth Minnesota to take pictures of my family graves plus other graves to post on my Wandering Graveyard Rabbit Blog and at http://wanderinggraveyardrabbit.blogspot.com/ find a grave http://www.findagrave.com/.

Today's Tombstone Tuesday is featuring my parents and between them is buried a baby brother.

My baby brother died at 3 days old and was buried in the infant cemetery for many years. A few years ago my sister asked what it would cost to move his stone and him between my parents and the cemetery did it for free. Now Arthur Jr rests with family.
It is so beautiful and peaceful there.
