I have started a time line for John T Lockwood who is my great great grandfather on my mother's side. He is my civil war ancestor.
1840 February 1 born to Hiram and Emma (Moiser) Lockwood in Columbus County, New York
1850 census has John living in Mukowonago, Waukesha, Wisconsin with parents, brothers Ferdinand and Frederic and sister Isabelle
1860 census has John living Hemlock, Wood, Wisconsin with family members
1861 April 12, the first shot of the Civil war at Fort Sumter. http://www.eyewitnesstohistory.com/sumter.htm
1863 September 25 married Betsey Jane Eddington Waupum, Wisconsin
1864 August 29 enlists in the Company K 2nd Regiment Wisconsin Calvary. Brother Ferdinand joins the same time.

1865 June 14 honorably discharged from military service
1870 census John is living Vernon, Blue Earth, Minnesota with wife Betsey, two children daughters Rosa and Carrie, parents and brother Ferdinand and sister Isabella ( age is wrong needs to be checked further)
Daughter Rosa is born
1870 October 7 daughter Carrie is born
1879 December 1 son John Lockwood Jr born ( date needs checking on)
1880 census John and wife Betsy are living in Trenton, Big Stone, Wisconsin with daughters Rosa, Carrie and Stella plus baby who is one month old probably baby John Jr
1885 May 1 John is living Big Stone, Malta, Minnesota
1900 census John is living Big Stone, Malta, Minnesota with wife Betsy. Living with them is John's brother Ferdinand and his mother Emma.
1910 John is living in Almond, Big Stone, Minnesota with wife Betsy.
1911 February 13 John passes away in Clinton Minnesota. Death certificate states he had 6 children 4 are living. This tells me there were two children I do not know of yet. That he was a farmer and died of Chronic Nephritis ( Kidney disease ) that he suffered from for one year. John is buried at the Clinton cemetery in Clinton Minnesota.
This is just the start of John's time line. I hope to learn more about him as I work on it.
